Green Deal and the Big Society DECC conference
CAG is facilitating a national event for a range of local groups
and organisations which will explore how the Big
Society approach can help to roll out the Green Deal at a local
level. The conference has been organised by the Department for Energy
and Climate Change (DECC).
The Green Deal is aimed at transforming energy efficiency in the
UK, establishing a new way to pay for improvements in homes and
buildings, energy efficient housing and businesses. More information
about the Green
Deal can be found on the DECC website.
The conference will explore how the roles that councils, housing
associations, community groups and social enterprise might play
in delivering the Green Deal, and how the Big Society approach ties
in with this. Delegates will hear from Minister of State Gregory
Baker, Grand Designs' Kevin McCloud and from local organisations
delivering pioneering projects that will help pave the way for the
Green Deal.
CAG is currently completing evaluations of the CESP and CERT programmes, the findings from which will help shape
the development of the Green Deal and the new Energy Company Obligation
(ECO).
The conference takes place on 20th June 2011 at the Royal Society.
